Preparation of Health & Safety Policies

As a requirement of The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Every employer with five or more employees, including directors and CIS employees on long term work, have to produce a written health and safety policy document for their company. The health and safety policy should contain three main sections:

The Statement of Intent

This section outlines the company's health and safety commitment statement, which should be signed and dated by the director responsible for health and safety.

The Organisation Structure

This section outlines the hierarchy of responsibility for the health and safety within the company and the specific duties assigned to individuals.

The Arrangements Section

This section highlights all the activities with risk to health and safety carried out by the company and the procedures the company have in place to reasonably control the risk.

NewStart 2001 can produce health and safety policies for your organisation that is based on the work the organisation actually carries out and not simply a generic document

    Site Inspections

Site inspections can be carried out at any site by our Health and Safety consultants. The ratio of inspections can be either set at the outset of a contract, be included as part of our Service Option 2 package, or be carried out randomly upon your request.

Each site inspection will be recorded on our inspection sheet, or client format, and a copy left on site for actioning. An additional copy of the inspection report will be forwarded by fax or email to your organisation within 48 hours of the inspection.

As our site inspections are carried out by health and safety consultants with a solid industry background, the advice given will be both practical and compliant. We will never leave a Site Manager confused over what action to take, or with questions unanswered. At NewStart 2001, we believe that health and safety compliance through education and teamwork will always achieve better results than total enforcement. This also helps to form a better working relationship between the site management and the health and safety consultant, assisting the health and safety management of the site continues after the consultant has left.
